SNEAK PEEK OF OUR 2025 GARDENS

#1 COURTYARD GARDEN - This garden had been neglected for many years, with grasses and weeds 3 feet high. Over the past five years, volunteers have created a colorful, serene space by sourcing donations of plants, raised beds, garden furniture, stepping pavers and fertilizer. With any luck, you will see butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators. Our latest addition is a mural depicting a classic Long Beach scene.

#2 CASTLE ABRI - Here you will be greeted with a profusion of diverse specimens of nature’s allure: meandering perennials of rolling ground covers, mature evergreens, flowering shrubs, beautiful trees, lush green lawns, imposing stonework and bold hardscapes. Many surprises await you in this lovely garden.

#3 MIMI’S KOI GARDEN - Variety best describes this garden. Azaleas, Rhododendron, Brunnera, Lenten Rose, Dogwood, Magnolia, Redbud and Virginia Bluebells welcome you! A secluded sanctuary awaits as the perfect setting for entertaining with a charming pergola, cozy firepit and relaxing hot tub in the company of Clematis, Azalea, Hydrangea, Holly, Weigela and more. The deck cantilevers over a koi pond with a waterfall and aquatic-loving plants.

#4 MERRY MONT GARDEN - Roses, English Lavender, Iris, and a Boxwood-lined walkway leading to clusters of Annabelle and Oakleaf Hydrangea beckon you to this historic home, with gardens redesigned by a landscape architect. Hydrangea, Solomon Seal, Lady’s Mantle, Wild Geranium, Lenten Rose, Peonies and Daisies create the homeowner’s perfect peaceful place. 

#5 PEACEFUL PARADISE - This one-third acre of land had been neglected and overgrown for decades. After the original cottage was torn down and a new home built in 2010, the homeowner, a Master Gardener, began transplanting her cherished Chicago plants to the property, creating a fresh landscape of shrubs, trees, perennials and pathways. One of her favorite sections of the Garden is under the raised deck near a treasured antique Buddha statue and a two-story retaining wall of impressive Climbing Hydrangea. Contrasts of Dark-leaved Ligularia and Gold Japanese Forest Grass repeat throughout the landscape in this well-designed and ever evolving green space.

#6 GRANNY’S GARDEN & ADJACENT MINDRUM GARDEN - A splendid “Zen” oasis awaits, meticulously created by both a local expert and Master Gardener in phases, resulting in a serene and picturesque landscape. Many existing plants are maintained: Primrose, Catmint, Ligularia, Yucca, Lynchnis Rose Campion, Variegated Ornamental Grass, Hellebore Lenten Roses and Ferns. New elements including a Boxwood berm, Viburnums, and a variety of new trees and shrubs including Japanese Maple, Limelight Hydrangeas, Magnolia Grandiflora, Azalea Bixby and Spirea, Canadian Hemlocks  All plantings are chosen keeping light considerations and hungry deer in mind! 

#7 CHICKADEE GARDEN- Since the homeowners purchased this property in 2014, an amazing transformation has taken place! The design development phase took over three years! Originally surrounded by a rusted, chain link fence overgrown with weeds and brambles, this singularly beautiful space now features a delightful Gazebo, and other features promoting the fun space. Outdoor chefs will be impressed, too.
